3" Speaker Housing
prusaprinters

When my computers soundbar died I decided to use my own amplifier project for sound on my PC. One issue was that I had no speakers to attach to it. Well, I did but only the drivers which sound awful when not in a case!

Step in my design for some 20W 3inch speakers! This is a ported design, probably tuned to 150Hz. I say probably because although I used an online calculator for it, the rest of the box is just that, a box.

The front I printed with black PLA and used Prusaslicers colour print to change the filament to a wood based one for the rest. I think it gives a pleasing two tone look. The rear of the speaker is again in the wood filament which is glued to the front using a liberal amount of 2-part epoxy to seal around the join.

Internally the driver is connected to two banana sockets on the rear piece to connect to the amp. Overall they actually sound quite good, reasonable bass while still being bright enough with treble.
