# The 3³ Puzzle I've become a little obsessed with puzzle boxes of late and wanted to make one a bit like a clever one I saw in a video, which had a novel unlocking mechanism I'd never seen utilised before. It consists of a 3cm cube of two parts: the box and the lid joined with a simple dovetail. The lid is held in place by four pins that must be positioned correctly to allow the lid to slide open. ## Version 3 This is iteration three of my design. I've removed the holes that appeared on the lid leaving just the two holes on the edges of the base. ## Assembly I've uploaded an assembly video at https://youtu.be/bLjULHbOsf8. 0. Place one pin in each of the two deeper holes in the base, which are diagonally opposite, so that the two pins are flush. 0. Add one pin to one of the deeper holes in the lid, again so it is flush. 0. Holding the lid pin with your finger, carefully slide this side of the over the base so that the edge of the base stops the pin falling and slide it nearly all the way on. 0. Using your finger to prevent the visible base pin falling out, flip the box over. 0. Now add the remaining pin to the lid hole diagonally opposite the first and slide the lid completely on. 0. Give the lid a little shake to the pins to settle and you should now find the lid is locked on in all orientations. # Solution Solution is in this video https://youtu.be/cMgfcA3u-0o. Hope you enjoy the 3³ puzzle.
