This prosthetic hand is a terminal prosthetic functioning as a voluntary closing device, requiring 8.5 hours to print in four parts weighing 0.49 LB. The prototype features paracord and shock-cord as tensioning cables and springs respectively, although rubber bands and fishing line could also be used. Cable throw is approximately 1.5-2 inches. The prosthetic attachment bolt must be placed midway through the print, encased within the palm for security. Each finger has a single point of rotation, reducing printing flaws and improving durability. For gripping smooth objects, rubber sheathing is recommended; the pinky finger supports weight while the other two prevent lateral motion. The middle finger hook allows for easy carrying of items like bags and provides an opposing digit to the thumb for pinch-motion grasping.
