3-D Printable RC Car

I designed an RC Car that circumvents the need for pricey motors and complex linkages. When I spotted the Open RC truggy, I was eager to get one, but didn't want to shell out extra cash for all the necessary parts just to make it work. I opted for components that any average maker might already have on hand. The 9-gram steering servos are mounted atop the a-arms to eliminate the need for ball joints and a multitude of linkages. For the motor, I repurposed my DJI Phantom brushless motors instead of using gearing; I simplified the design by integrating them directly into the rear wheels. This setup yields impressive speed while still delivering considerable torque. I utilized a high-grade RC plane radio and powered it with two 3S LiPo batteries. The fasteners vary from M3 nuts and bolts to salvaged plastic screws. The front wheels rotate around a general skateboard bearing. I'm eager to see what others can achieve with this platform, and hopefully, improvements will arise, making the vehicle a reliable, open-source machine.
