3 cylinder radial air engine
thingiverse
There is a challenge to be met. Build a 5cc air engine that can power a propeller and let's see how they compare! I started working on a more intricate design but someone dared me to create an engine with a rotary valve, so here it is! It runs extremely quietly and smoothly. It's incredibly easy to build: just print the parts, obtain bearings, some o-rings (or glue), small bolts, and a piece of 3mm steel rod for the crank. You're ready to go! After assembling the engine, make sure to drill tiny holes above the piston when it reaches BDC so air can escape. I didn't include this detail to ensure the cylinders are as smooth as possible.
