3-Axis Open Brushless Gimbal

<p>I really liked the Open Brushless Gimbal, however I wanted 3-Axis. I re-drew the entire model and made the following changes over the original.</p> <p>Tweaked the Lengths of the arms so that my Go-Pro Hero 3 Black would balance.</p> <p>Changed the main Arm to accept a brushless motor. For the Yaw-Axis I am using the RC Timer Brushless motor (link below)</p> <p>Changed the Suspension Frame to have a pass-through for the slip-ring wires. Changed the hole spacing so that it will fit the RC-Timer motor (run a countersink bit over the motor side of the center hole for better clearance). Changed it from 4 to 6 dampeners to compensate for the extra weight.</p> <p>Changed the Go-Pro box so that it has a more complete fit (I was concerned the Go-Pro could be ejected in flight). I tried making locking/release tabs, however they immediatly broke. It's held in pretty good by friction. I am not 100% satisfied with the design, I will likely tweak it. The hole-pattern on the box needs to be tweaked so that pitch is balanced, this is also on my future to-do list.</p> <p>A note about roll-arm balancing. There is about 3mm play that the pitch motor can be slid in and out. This can be used to set the balance of the roll perfectly. Keep the screw somewhat loose so that you can move the motor around until you get the perfect balance, than tighten up the screw.</p> <p>Link to the Motor I am using for the Yaw Axis...</p> <p>Rctimer 2608-70T Brushless Gimbal Motor With Slip Ring(12N14P): <a href="http://rctimer.com/product-1339.html">http://rctimer.com/product-1339.html</a></p> <p>If anyone improves the design, please share it so we can all benifit. I have not tested this in flight, I feel the design is sound, however as with anything free, use this at your own discretion. In other-words, don't blame me if you lose a go-pro in flight or any other issues you experience due to a design problem.</p> <p>All credit is due turbi for his original design, without it, I wouldn't have had such a great base to build from.</p> Category: Camera
