3-Axis Mount for ADXL335 Accelerometer
thingiverse
To grasp the fundamentals of a 3-axis accelerometer, I created a custom mounting for the ADXL335 sensor. This allows me to better understand what kind of data it actually measures and returns. The three axes are clearly labeled on both ends of the mounting, making it easy to identify which direction each axis points. To make the labels even more visible, I used permanent marker. In addition to this mounting, I also designed a slightly smaller object that attaches directly to a servo motor. This object can be seen in action in a video I posted online. By watching this video, you'll get a clear understanding of how an accelerometer is used to measure angles and visualize the basics of its operation.
