3 Axis CNC Mill Head
grabcad
Designing a mill head that could surface contour all while meeting various constraints such as weight and spindle motor power was a challenging task for our school project. The distributors provided many files, including nuts and bolts from McMaster-Carr. However, the biggest issue with the design was rigidity. Although it's strong enough to hold itself together when static, once cutting began, the thing would likely vibrate itself apart. To resolve this problem, I would add extra material to the outside edges of parts.
