These squad shield generators were deployed extensively on the front lines to protect the troops and offer cover where none was available. They had the power to deflect small arms and portable weapons, but lacked the power to deflect large vehicle-mounted weapons.  History: When the Acarian Empire encountered the alien race at the Tau Librae system, they were believed to be indigenous, although the Binary system did not appear capable of producing advanced life. It was later discovered that this was a multiple stellar system-spanning society with origins in the Sigma Rho system. Tensions have been high with the 'race' known simply as 'Sigma Rho' since the alien’s culture consists of many consortiums cooperating together and view the Imperial Acarian Dynasty as an opposing societal system.
