Not really sure what this project should be called... It's a clever 2-piece adapter that transforms a standard 3.5" drive bay into a convenient externally accessible slot for a sleek 2.5" SSD. The setup utilizes a trusted SATA extension cable with part number 29652A (boasting EAN/UPC code 4043718180448) to secure the connection. Two sturdy M3 screws neatly attach the extension cable, while two adjustable M3 nuts in strategically placed slots provide room for precision alignment of the front panel. To ensure versatility, two sizes of slot parts are available, and I ended up needing the longer one to fit perfectly. The installation process is smooth, and using M3 screws gets the job done; an equivalent imperial size would also work seamlessly. Moreover, there are thoughtful holes positioned 6 mm apart as well as at 6.35 mm from the bottom to facilitate a bit of wiggle room. For now, I'm relying on a piece of tape as a makeshift eject mechanism, but I'm eager to find a more elegant solution in the near future.
