As of September 17th, 2013, the design features only an outer frame for the project. The creator aims to complete the design soon for immediate testing. On September 25th, they uploaded the OpenSCAD file as it is still a work in progress, seeking suggestions from others. One suggestion was to use a liner riser bearing to stabilize the platform. They intend to create holders that will result in all required parts for the design. However, on September 18th, they decided against making a Mendel printer due to issues with moving mass affecting print quality. The design now accommodates X and Y printheads on top, with two motors still used for Z-axis tray holding. Updates on Nema mounts for the Z-axis are being worked on, to be added soon. To use the file, a download from this link is required: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:84339. The project can be used as a starting point for constructing various machines, including 3D printers.
