To ensure good printing, this design incorporates clever geometry and is suitable for machines with limited or no GCode buffering. Skeinforge records only four line segments for the gear's inner hole, while avoiding mid-line stops. The hole is small enough to be threaded by a 2mm post, making it ideal for building gearboxes. A test clip file is available along with coat hanger wire posts for constructing various-length gear trains. Using washers can improve the train's smoothness.
