The Minotaur in Greek mythology is a legendary creature from Crete with the body of a man and the head of a bull. It was born to Pasiphae, the wife of King Minos, and a snow-white bull sent by the god Poseidon for sacrifice. Instead of sacrificing it, Minos kept the bull alive. As punishment, Poseidon made Pasiphae fall deeply in love with the bull. Her child by the bull was locked away in the Labyrinth built by Daedalus for King Minos.
