Malsuir sat motionless just outside the camp, his ears tuned to the animated conversations of his companions as they regaled each other with tales of their daring exploits and mishaps. "No Rest for a Wizard" he whispered to himself, his eyes fixed on the arcane symbols etched into his spellbook as he meticulously prepared his incantations for the impending battle. "They may boast freely now," Malsuir thought, "but come tomorrow when I unleash my fiery dragon spell upon them, their boasts will be reduced to silence." Suddenly, Jerry, his owl familiar, swooped silently in and deposited a small salamander into Malsuir's lap. As he drew his dagger from its sheath at his belt and skillfully slit open the belly of the salamander, a fleeting thought flashed through his mind: "I wish this spell preparation process wasn't so woefully messy!"
