I wanted to capture stop-motion videos of 3D printed objects but lacked the persistence to figure out how to secure my phone so printer vibrations wouldn't knock it off. I recalled having an old Gorillapod in my bag and thought I'd give making a mounting frame for my iPhone 6 Plus a try. The result turned out to work quite well! To ensure optimal results, I recommend printing the design at high resolution and with moderate solidity (50-80% fill) so it can securely hold your phone in place. My initial prototype was printed with lower density and it cracked when the phone was inserted; subsequently, another one printed too loosely. However, after some experimentation, I've managed to strike a suitable balance! The mounting pin on the design is designed to fit snugly, eliminating the need for glue, but you may still need to make minor adjustments to ensure proper fitment.
