2x2 doweling jigs
thingiverse
This is a set of doweling jigs I designed and have used successfully in numerous woodworking projects. Most of my base creations (tables and benches) utilize 2x2 lumber, effectively 1.5" square. These jigs work flawlessly along the edge of such pieces in any orientation, allowing for precise drilling of holes in exactly the right spots so that I can ultimately join my pieces together using wood glue and dowels. I employ them by attaching the jig with a clamp, then once it's securely in place, I use a drill to cut out the holes at exactly the correct locations. The jig with only one wall can be used if you have a separate spacer; for instance, you could cut a length of wood and use that to space the jig precisely some distance away before clamping everything down. The tolerances are remarkably accurate, making this approach work well for me during multiple projects.
