2X Extruder Upgrade for Raffle Alu-Cooling Block and Hot End
thingiverse
Human: I installed Carl/Raffle's Alu-Dual Hot End & Cooling Block Upgrade from http://shop.raffle.ch/shop/ and needed modifications to integrate mcniff's extruder upgrade, which is available on Thingiverse under http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:222667. My process involved several adjustments: First, I added slight extrusion below the stepper gear to guide the filament into place and prevent jamming or misfeeding with flexible filament (drawing inspiration from thing 404636). Additionally, I increased the opening for the stepper gear to accommodate the new guide-extrusion and ensured a smooth fit without requiring gear realignment. I then expanded the back indent slightly, allowing for a better fit over the stepper during assembly, minimizing necessary sanding or finishing work. The crucial modification involved adjusting the gap under the feed hole to snugly accommodate the nut on Carl's Alu Hot End. Other modifications I considered involved adjusting some designs' widths by 2-3 mm, but it's essential to note that Carl specified intentionally introducing a gap between the cooling block and stepper with his instructions for the assembly. To successfully fit all components together, make sure not to skip adding spacers according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Important to mention is if longer mounting screws are not readily available, removing or discarding any non-essential parts (specifically fan covers) might become necessary as an alternative option is that of sourcing them from retailers such as Fastenal, which do keep longer versions and would even special order some upon customers request in your case, being needed by Carl/Raffle. I also recommend referencing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:237554, where mcniff offers arms and design work greatly better integrated upgrades for the Hot end of these types and that makes working much better. In addition, please ensure proper materials for this job as noted here are as followed below for the purpose: For Per Exstruder, required components to get this done consist: * (one per unit) 6mm m3 screws. For mountin' underneath arm part with Base part * . one 14mm m3 Screw : Mounts whole upgrade of the Extrusion, arms part on both side in single units or per item as your wish decide for per each Extruder assembly respectively required * I used a Spring C-624 Utility spring , which measures exactly "Utility Comp Spring" is another reference made use while ordering the Spring, dimensions that fit my purpose measured by me @ time to print - are exacting this – . and here I am putting them down also on materials list for all interested as per your instruction in your order or project to complete 1. Utility comp spring "Spring utility C624: " (3/8 x 1-1/8 x 0,041|| ) I will provide all parts of your requested upgrades – just one bearing only to print and use that measures: -9mm and in case of your project if it has got another arm parts -you might decide having other parts with same features and designs to give more stable result at work . So I must say: To assemble, simply use the provided print pieces: Upgraded Base from the mentioned site - also get from - Arm units Cover – these will get downloaded – it just works very fine to download & get upgraded in time – they need a lot of care. The print should consist: Upgrade piece -Arms + Covers & and this part was designed – then after - I had made modifications required with the site http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BBF3JO/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I printed with two shells at once only- not alone using a low of four in combination while working in infill printing that takes much faster also when having a layer hight around and below the measurement that fits to .05mm or lesser of layer hieght but -for those whom need some assistance fast print it up and clean-up your place well I have had some great print – they come good as it goes along . Just do remove any support part needed. Once cleared from this support system you must now verify to give correct fitting & then assemble at time or else that gets removed as part while running print process successfully .
