2U 2x Single DIN rack mount shelf
thingiverse
We've been working together on a collaborative project to create a single DIN (180mm x 50mm) shelf that fits neatly into a 19" rack space. The design is inspired by my TP Link switch rack, which can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:966973. The idea behind this project is that you have the option to print just one side of the shelf or all three pieces and bolt them together to form a full-width rack shelf. We've got several design options on the table. We're considering two different depths for the total depth of the shelf: 80mm or 160mm. The center bridge component can be either flat-faced or have an opening that allows you to pass cables through. I'm still making some tweaks, but so far, everything is looking good. One thing we haven't determined yet is how heavy of an item we can safely place on the shelf. The shelf is 2U tall and all of its walls are a sturdy 5mm thick. Every hole you'll find is 5mm in diameter except for the rack ears, which have holes measuring 6.4mm x 9.4mm. The side walls feature 5mm-tall slots that stretch across their width. Print Settings Notes: If you print the parts face down, you shouldn't need any supports, but your mileage may vary.
