Around Huntingdon, in Cambridgeshire, nearly 40 ancient Roman kilns have been carefully uncovered along the A14 improvement route. Both of these discoveries were made in the northern part of a site located west of Brampton. Here, archaeologists found over 10 pottery kilns buried within an old Roman enclosure - clearly marking this area as once-thriving industrial grounds. The standard "figure-of-eight" shape is evident in all kilns, featuring a flue at one end and a firing chamber for pots at the other. Many of these kilns also boasted linings and kiln furniture inside their structures.
