In my project, I designed a printable filament spool with specific parameters, based on Jesse's helpful thread. The spool includes an entirely printable design, including the center hub. It features an interlocking connection in the center of the hub and allows separate adjustment of the inside and outside diameters of the hub. Moreover, it enables tapering for both the inside and outside of the hub. A notable feature is the ability to create just spool hubs that can be pressure-fitted into various tubes like paper towel rolls or shipping tubes. The design ensures minimal plastic usage with an optional teardrop cutout. Additionally, filament holes are provided for secure spooling and tying loose ends. As for updates, there were some minor connector fixes made on 7/14/13. However, more features will be incorporated in future designs.
