2mm timing belt joiner/tensioner
thingiverse
This tool is designed specifically for joining timing belt ends together. I created it when my Ultimaker experienced a loose belt that could not be tightened due to its spring tensioner design. A split belt offers several advantages; if replacement becomes necessary, disassembly of the machine can be avoided altogether. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Medium Infill: 50% minimum Notes: The two covers are secured by four 2.4 mm x 5mm hex head screws. Instead of tapping the holes into the body, I utilized 2.5mm threaded inserts that can be inserted using a soldering iron to heat them until they melt their way in. This results in an excellent fit and a snug finish. The inserts originate from McMaster Carr, PN 94180A333. The cost is approximately $15 for 100 units; considering the benefits, this expense seems justified.
