2mm Leadholder/ Drafting Pencil

2mm Leadholder/ Drafting Pencil

thingiverse

This is a 2mm lead holder (technical drafting pencil/technigraph), the likes of Staedtler and Koh-I-Noor, my personal favorite among them all. It takes a 2mm lead, not your average 0.5, 0.7, or 0.9 mm leads, so be on guard. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Print 2. Place clutch mechanism in pencil 3. For spring, take a small rubber band (the type used on a rainbow loom back when it was all the rage) and superglue it in the small hole after inserting the clutch mechanism into the pencil body. Then loop it around the post on the body. 4. Superglue the button into the hole on the end of the clutch rod, making sure that the clutch can still move freely. 5. Use minimal heat to bend the clutch prongs outward slightly and then inward to form a shape like this: ( ) 6. Insert lead and use. NOTE: This is a prototype, and for all the trouble it will cause you, you might as well just buy a lead holder from Menard's for $4.50. This is not a "daily driver" pencil for anyone who values their sanity. But feel free to make, remix, and have fun with this design!
