Design of a 2kVA UPS through reverse engineering.Today I am sharing one of my recent CAD works on sheet metal and welding using Solidworks. The actual product in context here is a 2000VA offline UPS that provides pure sine wave in inverter mode, which I’ve been using for power backup of my desktop for over two years. This project has been a great learning lesson for me regarding real world sheet metal design and welding work. I’ve learned a lot about what factors to keep in mind during enclosure design for electrical components, how to follow DFM principles for sheet metal, how to leverage the flexibility of custom weldment profile in Solidworks.I’ve used an inch ruler to measure the fine details of every feature. I must thank to the grabcad community for the fuse and battery part.
