2inch Desktop Vise

2inch Desktop Vise

thingiverse

A desktop vise holds small items like circuit boards, models, and parts for assembly securely. The jaws open up to 50mm (about 2 inches) at maximum. Print this design in the shown orientation without supports needed. Although the screw is tall and thin, its knob provides enough surface area that a brim should not be required. After printing, check if the jaw fits into the base and moves freely. Remove any excess material from the elephant foot if necessary. Insert the screw through the base and turn it through the jaw. Be aware that this screw has a left-handed thread, so turn it in the opposite direction of what's expected. The screw stays in place with an M3x6mm cap head machine screw in the base. Secure it by turning the screw until its hole aligns with the cutout in the base and screws all the way in. The example shown was printed with AMZ3D grey PLA for the base and jaw, and orange PLA for the screw. It's also shown with an Arduino Nano for scale.
