The Sony DSC-QX10 is a versatile lens-style camera with an impressive 10x optical zoom. Perfect for capturing stunning videos and high-quality photos, this camera can be controlled directly from your smartphone. You can find pre-owned units on eBay for approximately $70-$80. This project includes the necessary components to build a budget-friendly 2D gimbal for the Sony DSC-QX10. The gimbal can be attached to a selfie stick, such as my Foneso model. I've also developed a quadcopter gimbal using these parts, but I'm currently addressing vibration issues and will publish that project once resolved. The battery box is based on [this](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1975895) design, while the smartphone holder is inspired by [this](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1888348) project. Check out a short demo clip of the camera in action on the gimbal here: https://youtu.be/cAwWw3J0k2o To build a 2D gimbal stick, you'll need the following parts: * ActionArm8Bit.stl - The arm connecting the selfie stick to the tilt motor * ArmToRoll.stl - The arm linking the tilt and roll motors * QX10-CamPlate.stl - The plate holding the camera and IMU In addition to these components, you'll require: * A 2D 8-bit brushless gimbal controller and an IMU. I used an IMU with dimensions of 21x13 mm. Search for "BGC 3.0" on eBay to find a suitable option, priced around $10-$15. * A ferrite ring - Wind the I2C cable for the IMU four times through this ring to prevent I2C errors and gimbal lock-ups or misbehaviors * Two 2804 hollow shaft motors with screws - Search for "2804 hollow shaft" on eBay, priced around $10-$15 each Alternatively, you can purchase a complete 2D gimbal kit, including all necessary parts, screws, cables, and more. Simply search for "2-axis gimbal" on eBay, and you'll find options priced around $40-$50. If you'd like to use a different controller/IMU or motors, examine the OpenSCAD source files in the zip file. These files already contain definitions for other boards and motors, and you can modify them by editing one or two lines of code (documentation is still in development). To build the parts, ensure you have OpenSCAD 2016 or newer installed.
