28mm Miniature Display/Protector (Chinese clone edition)
thingiverse
This is a remix of a design that I created using Chessex dice boxes to display/protect 28mm miniatures (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3903974). I discovered Bescon (Chessex clone) dice boxes on Amazon for $2 apiece, which was significantly cheaper than the Chessex dice boxes on Amazon that cost $6-8 apiece. The quality of the Bescon dice boxes is slightly lower in my opinion but they still look good and function properly. The base structure of the Bescon dice box differed enough from the Chessex design that I had to create a new design to accommodate it. The main differences were to account for the variations in dimensions of the base, which is wider, and the reduced height of the enclosure required rearranging the magnets to leave sufficient headroom. This also resulted in requiring 2 magnets to achieve a good grip on the miniature base instead of just one. In the end, I think it turned out well and provides a great alternative for budget-conscious display plinth builders. As always, happy printing, happy gaming, and I hope this is useful!
