28mm British Tank Matilda - WW2

thingiverse

The Matilda II Tank, a British infantry tank of World War Two fame, rolled off production lines as a result of the A12 specification back in 1936. This design aimed to give birth to a gun-armed counterpart to its smaller, machine-gun-toting cousin, the two-man A11 Infantry Tank Mark I. Dubbed Matilda by its creators, this earlier model was eventually scrapped in 1940. From then on, the larger A12 was widely referred to simply as "the Matilda." With its robust armour plating, the Matilda II tank proved itself an excellent infantry support vehicle despite some limitations in terms of speed and firepower. This behemoth of a machine went on to serve Britain throughout the entire duration of World War Two, earning special distinction during the North African Campaign. Eventually, it gave way to the lighter, less expensive Infantry Tank Mk III Valentine in late 1941.
