I made a critical error, resulting in a hasty repair. The quickest and most cost-effective fix involved swapping out a component that allows for the conversion of a DIP28 IC socket with extended legs to a DIL28. Please note that this is not an aesthetically pleasing solution! I'll double-check my work twice next time to ensure accuracy.
