Repairing it, when done by a specialized center, can be costly due to its complexity and length. If your iMac (like mine, late 2012) or other out-of-warranty models are involved, trying an external solution that allows for multiple viewing angles may be convenient. I designed this system based on an open threaded tube with ring nuts, which ensures various screen inclinations thanks to its diagonally cut end. I threaded a large section of the tube for optimal positioning and inserted it directly into the original power cable hole in the stand. The tube is secured by two opposing rings and can be easily installed around the original power cord. This solution provides excellent solidity and a repeatable position of the desired screen. Printing it with bright colors can give our iMac a charming vintage look. I am unsure if the 21" iMac version has an equal or smaller hole in its stand, but resizing the design using slicing programs should be feasible for small diameter variations.
