I'm Not Sure What You're Talking About, Can You Explain?\r\n\r\nAre you wondering if I accidentally ordered 2525 extrusions or something? One inch extrusions are actually called 2525, and they measure 25mm by 25mm with a T-slot. They aren't used much, so I ended up ordering some by mistake. No worries, though - now I can design my own printer. Here's one part of it that uses low-cost hardware because I'm tired of waiting 30 days for nuts and bolts to arrive. I've decided to reduce or use different parts that are cheaper instead. Instead of screws and bolts, I'm using metal rods that can be tapped in for idlers, which saves six components per item.\r\n\r\nThis thing is designed for the MGN rail to the xy with idlers, as well as back idlers. It's a uni-idler design, so you don't have to choose between left and right - it works on either side.\r\n\r\nI'm using a piece of 5mm stainless steel rod, which is close in size. I noticed that I was being nickel-and-dimed on hardware, so why use special M5 or M4 or M3 or M1 when most parts only need a simple rod? My local hardware store didn't carry many European parts made in China, and they took 30 days to arrive at a cost of $20 or more each time I needed a new size nut or bolt.\r\n\r\nI printed this part at 100% with a brim and tree supports using PLA. Here's the version history:\r\n\r\nCreated: \r\n\r\nPrinted line-up model; lined up holes and junk: \r\n\r\nCreated idlers, printed them: \r\n\r\nThe model had bad adhesion due to its thickness causing warping from thermal expansion. Please print with a brim.\r\n\r\nThe idler hole on the top outer was only 7mm clearance; it should have been 10mm. I updated the size in the new STL file.\r\n\r\nIt should function now, and I'm printing it as we speak (July 23, 2020).\r\n\r\nThe print looks amazing, but I had some thermal expansion warping issues, so I added fins to reduce this effect hopefully. Printing now!\r\n\r\nHARDWARE:\r\n\r\nAround 5mm thick stainless steel rod should be used to reduce maintenance and the chance of failure due to rust.\r\n\r\nCut the 5mm thick rods to 32mm length for all three holes.\r\n\r\nThe mgn rail uses the same screw size as MGN12
