250g spool extender for Bambu Lab X1 AMS
prusaprinters

Small 250g spools do not fit on the Bambu Lab X1 AMS, because the spool itself is driven (wound/unwound) by rollers which engage the rim of the spool. The 250g spools have a diameter that is too small and the rollers won't touch the rim.

This model extends the 250g spool to a diameter which allows the AMS to work with it.

Print instructions

The attached 3MF files should be directly usable in Bambu Studio.

Print the spool adapter x2, the clips x6.

Assembly

Place the spool between the helper nubs in the adapter. Then from the inside of the spool, from the rim side, insert at three places the clips so it grabs the rim of the 250g spool and the inner part of the printed adapter. By bending the adapter and spool rim a bit, the clip should snap in place.

Repeat this for the other side of the spool.

Make sure any irregularities from printing are removed from the outer rim of the spool extender.

Usage

Place the extended spool in the AMS spool slot, in the center. Roll the spool back and forth to make sure the rolling goes smoothly. Then feed filament in the AMS and use as normal.

Also check out the 500g spool extender!
