Moray's 7.3mm frame spacers are required for this project, available here (framespacer v3.stl): http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29918506&postcount=215 These spacers work perfectly with Turnigy LED strips, 7.3mm tall, holding a maximum of six LEDs in place while their wires are soldered securely behind them. Heatshrink tubing is used where the wires meet to keep them from vibrating excessively during impact. In comparison, using frame spacers that accommodate three LEDs leaves much to be desired. To secure your LEDs safely within the arms of your model aircraft, frame spacers should be spaced accordingly to provide a buffer in case of accidental impacts. They should fit snugly on the exterior side of each arm for added protection against crash damage. For an even greater degree of safety, an updated design is now available (further in frame version) where LEDs are placed 2mm deeper within the frame arms to minimize the risk of accidental destruction upon impact. Using them exclusively at the rear further reduces the chances of damage from minor collisions. The printing settings include using a .25mm layer height with ABS, but you can achieve comparable results by substituting PLA for ABS with equally good outcomes.
