25 mm Fan support for M3D Head (to cool the extruder motor)
thingiverse
The M3D printer has several conception issues. One of them is that the extruder motor overheats due to inadequate cooling. As a result, the extruder motor shuts down during prints, resulting in numerous failures for large prints (exceeding 10 mm). Some forum members suggested attaching a fan to the head using tape: it works, but its solution is not clean and time-efficient, which is why I designed this part (you can find the FreeCAD source files or simply download the STL file). This support enables you to install a 25mm fan to cool down the extruder. With this modification, you will be able to print successfully with your printer. You can utilize the same fan as the M3D one or purchase a more affordable option from eBay (25 mm x 25 mm x 7 mm or taller). Then, you can secure it to this part using M3 bolts. Please note that the clips holding this part in place on the printer head require removing the front cover, but feel free to use the FreeCAD schema and enhance it as desired. You may print this part with minimal settings (no draft, etc.), "low" or "medium" quality, and a small infill percentage (as the part is relatively thin). To power the fan, you can use a spare USB cable (which provides 5v). PS: I'm French, so my English may contain some errors. If you notice any mistakes, please don't hesitate to point them out.
