.223/5.56 30rd compact battle tray
thingiverse
If you're looking for a compact and lightweight case for your precious democracy, this is the perfect thing for you. I designed this to have no excess weight so it has no compartments - bullets are held in place by friction, and it holds 30 rounds so you can easily count how many magazines you can load. To fill this, just grab the tray with one hand and tilt it to about 30 degrees, then place four rounds in the bottom corners. Later, simply add more until there's only one spot left, then press the last round into place to lock everything up. To change how securely everything holds together, try scaling it down or up a little bit - just 0.1% or 0.2% will do the trick. For me, at 100% strength, it holds loosely. A honeycomb finish was achieved by setting the bottom and top layers to zero and adding a honeycomb infill. Warning: Check your local gun laws because some require primers to be covered. I've also designed a simple cover that fits over everything and secures bullets from falling out, but it misses a good and secure lock - suggestions are welcome.
