220mm Ceiling Light Diffuser

220mm Ceiling Light Diffuser

My ceiling mounted glass light diffuser made a break for it and crashed to the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces. This is my replacement, carefully crafted to bring back the warmth and ambiance I once knew. Printed at 100% scale, this diffuser is as large an object as will fit on my trusty Ender 3 printer. The original glass diffuser was probably 10 mm larger, but this one should do just fine. This design is specifically intended to be supported by a sturdy lamp pipe with a nut at the end. The included plastic nut might not have threads in its design, but you can twist it onto the pipe as a temporary fix. If you've got a real nut lying around, that's always the better option. I printed this diffuser with zero infill and a top layer just one line thick. Using a very large .48 layer height and a .8 nozzle helped to bring out its intricate details. Although I noticed some problems with the STL/Print at the sides near the top - where the model is quite thin - the print still turned out surprisingly functional. One important warning: be sure to check if you're using incandescent or other hot bulbs in your lamp. Very hot light bulbs can melt this diffuser, so use caution when installing it.
