The Mrs 18, a successor to the outdated World War I-era Mrs 16, featured a groundbreaking carriage design. Among the first weapons in quantity production to employ a dual-recoil system, it provided enhanced stability through both barrel recoil in its cradle and top carriage recoil across the main part of the carriage. This innovative design allowed for precise firing, leading to its utilization in the 17 cm Kanone 18 in Mörserlafette and the 15 cm Schnelladekanone C/28 in Mörserlafette as well.
