20x40 V-Slot shims
thingiverse
I built the Prusa i3 Bear Half (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2562174), an upgrade to the Prusa i3 frame. Cutting 20x40 pieces to precise length is crucial for achieving a square frame, but in practice, such cuts are notoriously challenging. These shims compensate for minor variations in 20x40 piece lengths and also soften metal-to-metal joints. I derived these STL files from Isaac Norris's excellent thing (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1729544) - thank you, Isaac! Printing is effortless with these shims; no special settings required. Printing multiple sets ensures a sufficient selection for the build process. I printed mine with PETG, which provides a hint of softness that PLA lacks.
