20cm Alignment Grid / Craft Cutting Board
thingiverse
This is a straightforward 20cm x 20cm (200mm x 200mm) grid that I created. I required a flat surface to quickly line up items on it, something more durable than a paper grid. I'm sharing the design in case someone else finds it helpful. I primarily use it for aligning objects on a laser engraver, and the grid lines could serve as useful guides for cutting straight lines with a craft knife. To put it plainly, it's divided into 1cm x 1cm squares, with heavy emphasis lines every 5 cm. When I printed it, fortunately there was no material shrinkage and the accuracy is almost spot on. I printed with Hatchbox PLA, at a bed temperature of 50C and hot end temperature of 200C on a Creality Ender 3. Different materials or printing temperatures will likely impact material shrinkage and the grid size's accuracy. UPDATE 2/20/2020 : I replaced the original STL file with the same model but in lower resolution. The high-quality model was almost 8 MB, while the lower-resolution version is only 1 MB, with no significant change to the final result.
