2020 Vibration Isolator
thingiverse
I tried various cantilevered isolator designs, but was underwhelmed by their sag over time. To rectify this issue, I conceived an isolator that employs a pair of hoops to provide flexibility. This design also ensures a more secure connection to the 2020 profile by preventing it from opening up as load is applied. Installing these requires some force due to their snug fit onto the 2020 profile. This design will not effectively isolate if you print with stiff materials; I recommend using TPU or Ninjaflex instead. I utilized Sainsmart TPU, which boasts a relatively high material damping coefficient and works well in this application. The base design is 40mm deep, so scale Z to adjust the amount of stiffness and therefore load bearing capability. Printer Settings: Printer: Folgertech 2020 Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Notes: I used 3 perimeters with a 0.4mm nozzle to achieve a nearly solid part. If you find the stiffness too high, consider reducing it to 2 perimeters.
