2020 tapping jig with punch guide
thingiverse
I've not tested this yet, as I've got to fix something on my printer before I can test and adjust it, but I wanted to get it up. I've designed this with the following in mind: - Misumi rails (so m5 tap) - These taps (again m5): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z9RLFRW - This spring punch: https://www.harborfreight.com/spring-loaded-center-punch-621.html I originally printed and started using https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2764774/ (I've rebuilt this from scratch, but I did pull some measurements from the original STL.) It fits the misumi extrusions well but there is quite a bit of wobble room with these taps. I also wanted to add a hole as a guide for a center punch 10mm away from the base so you can more easily mark where to drill an access hole for assembling blind joints. I've narrowed the hole size for the tap from 6mm to 5mm because there was a lot of wobble with my particular taps. I uploaded a version with 3 prongs instead of 4 for doing 2040, but with the misumi extrusions the 4 prong fits fine. I've also included the step file so you can adjust anything (e.g. hole diameter, prong size, number of prongs).
