2020 Spool Holder
thingiverse
This remix of the Spool Holder elevates filament mounting on top of the M3D Quad Crane to a new level by addressing the issues with the original design. I took it upon myself to make these modifications. Key changes include: 1. A more compact spool arm height 2. Narrowing the 2020 arm base from 30 mm to 20 mm in width 3. Eliminating the inside bearing guide 4. Providing clearance for 2020 Socket head bolts 5. Rotating the bearing guide to a horizontal position along the Z plane 6. Incorporating a Bridge plate for effortless alignment between sides 7. Introducing a T slot version, rendering name plate removal unnecessary 8. Creating tabs on the spool core for easy snap-in integration with new flexible spool ends To assemble this design, you will need 8 standard skate board type bearings - 608-ZZ Ball Bearing 8x22x7 - readily available from Amazon or Ebay at an affordable price of less than a dollar per bearing. Avoid high-speed bearings that spin too freely, opting instead for the readily accessible skateboard variety. No additional hardware is required beyond what's already included. Spools come in diverse sizes, with this design specifically tailored to accommodate M3D 1000 ft spools. While other spools can be used, wider spools may necessitate remixed parts. Four spools can fit comfortably across the 230 mm frame of the printer.
