2020 Mounted Spool Roller
thingiverse
This is a roller style spool holder designed to mount onto a 2020 extrusion seamlessly. I have created three versions due to my continuous pursuit of innovative ideas. I've also included a bearing fitter/remover tool for those struggling with stuck bearings, which can be easily fitted over the rod and hammered on or off as needed. Version 1: A simple roller mounted on a rod, requiring no bearings whatsoever. No image is available. Version 2: A barrel-style roller featuring bearing ends, with the bearings securely positioned inside the length of the roller. This design is showcased in the first image. Version 3: A thin rod equipped with bearings at both ends, necessitating clearance for the bearings outside the roller's length. The base of this design is also extended accordingly, as seen in the second picture. The spool glides smoothly over the plastic, and while I believe bearings are not necessary, they may provide extra support if the spool is constructed from materials other than cardboard. Update: As of May 24, 2017, rod holders with a tighter fit have been added to address any issues related to loose original fittings.
