2020 glasses for JoCoCruise #10
thingiverse
2020 marks the 10th JoCo Cruise anniversary, and my sister and I had already signed up before the 2019 cruise set sail. It seemed like a perfect year to commemorate with some unique glasses. These novelty glasses started as a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1126538 but essentially required being re-created from scratch. The basic glasses can be worn solo around New Year's or all year round, but the separate JoCo "Garnish" will snap onto the main frames for a cruise-specific pair. This design is significantly larger than the original, primarily because it needed to fit over my large head with glasses on. Even if you have a smaller head and no glasses, the temples are easily adjustable to hold securely in place. If printed in PLA, the ear pieces can be dipped in moderately hot water and will become pliable within seconds. They can then be molded around the wearer's head easily and held until cool again. After that, the shape will be retained unless exposed to heat again. Minimal supports are recommended for the main frames of the glasses. A low-density setting with roof supports (Cura calls it "roof," your slicer may vary) will snap off easily and leave behind a smooth pocket to perfectly accept the temples. 2020 - I can see clearly now! UPDATE 12/16: I just uploaded a newer version with some slight adjustments, which should fit more people better and has minor technical tweaks. Use the same temples.
