2020 aluminum extrusion makerbot style endstop mount
thingiverse
Wanted a more skookum end stop mount for my Y axis. This mounts the the endstop at a 45 degree angle on the Y axis to take up little space and still hit the XY carriage joiners when they come around. It's marked a work in progress, however it's perfectly functional for my needs, and maybe yours too, so I can't say if I'm going to get back to this before I wind up rebuilding the printer a third time or building a new one. Improvements needed: - It needs to be adjusted along the 2020 extrusion. I was aiming for something that would be able to just be butted right against the little angle brackets holding the frame together and easy-peasy it's ready to go. This is probably a more versatile version than I had bouncing around in my head so go nuts with it, if I ever get around to a version that doesn't need to be fiddled with for a stock hypercube (or whatever else I'm building at the time) I'll add it here but leave the initial one alone. - It sits outside the 2020 extrusion by a millimeter and change or so. Using a nylock nut on the part isn't helping here, adding another half millimeter or so. Keep in mind this will need to be addressed if you are hoping to use the thing in some kind of tight enclosure. Again. if I get around to fixing it I'll upload the new version, it's working for me for now though so /shrug emoji. - The 3mm captured-nut holes might be a little large, it works well enough with my printer settings to snugly cinch the screws holding the part into nylock nuts. The .blend file is included as with everything I put up here so knock yourself out if you want to modify it. Marked as a remix because the .blend contains the 1sPIRe endstop model used to measure out what was needed to mount the real part. Check that out if you're looking to modify mine or outdo me, it's invaluable. Same with beverageexpert's 2020 extrusion piece, both are also pictured in the cover photo as well as included the blend file. Printing recommendations: Print with the face the endstop is going to mount to face down on the build plate. The "sides" that mount to the extrusion will be coming up at 45 degree angle and aren't going to look absolutely perfect unless you're better dialed in than I am with the FDM printer, but it results in a part that feels very strong and with minimal supports and support cleanup needed.
