2020 Aluminium Extrusion Y Carriage
thingiverse
I am currently constructing the AM8 Metal Frame for Anet A8, which can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2263216. Paying £20 to £30 for a Y Carriage Plate was not a priority on my agenda. To be honest, I wasn't enthusiastic about 3D printing one, so I opted for drilling two sets of three holes into a bar of 2020 material and tapping them together with bolts. Combining this setup with my LM10UU to 2020 STL proved to be a successful solution. It's surprisingly lightweight, considering the 2020 section weighs approximately 0.4 kg/m, and the entire assembly spans around 80cm in length. While it may not be as light as some of the more advanced solutions available, it is incredibly sturdy. I decided to share this design because I haven't come across anyone doing something similar yet.
