2019 Science Olympiad Wright Stuff Gage
thingiverse
As a Science Olympiad Supervisor, I make precision gages to speed-check planes. My method has evolved with the 3D revolution - I now design and print them on my 3D printer for instant use. Initially, I crafted gages from balsa wood and foam board, but this approach is outdated. By modeling the designs in 3D software, I can share and print high-quality gages at will. To prepare the gage files for printing, I must split them into two parts to accommodate my printer's size limitations. Once printed, I assemble the pieces using 3.5mm bolts. Users can utilize these gages by inserting the span into the long gap without touching, and then slipping the chord into the hooked section, again, without any contact.
