2019 Honda HRV ball mount bracket
thingiverse
I'm generally not a huge fan of vent mounts but some cars, like the HR-V, have a lack of solid mounting space. This design by revacuate is excellent; it prints cleanly and assembles easily. The clips go in and around the vent vane, followed by the retainers on the front and the first set of nuts. This results in a nice solid attachment. The bracket then goes over the studs and is held on with a second set of nuts. I've included a file for just these upper nuts in case you want to print them in a different color. The original design is awesome, but it's for a CR-V and the vents differ. Since the vents are both semi triangular, revacuate's plate probably would have worked if I turned it upside down. I didn't try that though and instead made a different adapter plate to suit the HR-V vent shape and mostly to push the centerline of the phone pad as far toward the radio as possible.I beefed up the clips (hooks) a little with a crude fillet and also flattened one side of the threads for easier printing. This is working fine so far.I used a ball mount magnet pad from a generic suction phone mount and just duplicated the ball in Tinkercad using a hyperboloid and a 17mm ball. You can easily change these to suit your needs for sure. I kept the stalk (hyperboloid) as short as I could while preserving a fair degree of motion. Also, I drilled from the back of the bracket and installed a sheetmetal screw from the back of the bracket up into the ball for some extra support. Hope it works out well for you!
