The year was 2019 and it had been a particularly grueling month of January. The sun was shining brightly over the small town of Escombreira, but the residents were struggling to keep their spirits up. It had been twenty-five long days since they'd last seen any significant rainfall, and the dry earth was beginning to crack under the relentless heat. The once-green pastures were now nothing more than a barren expanse of dusty brown, and the animals were starting to suffer from the lack of water. The townspeople were doing their best to ration what little they had, but it seemed like no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't catch a break.
