2017 TARC Railguides
thingiverse
2017 TARC demands the use of a reduced diameter booster. You have two mounting options: attach rail guides to the payload bay or utilize a standoff. These 3D printable railguides are compatible with BT60 boosters and payloads of BT70 or BT80 size.\nThe two-legged version has been thoroughly tested and functions flawlessly. My students successfully launched a 5-pound, 5.5-inch high-power rocket using an I300 motor on slim guides without encountering any issues.\nThese railguides can be printed in any material and will work just fine. I've printed them in ABS and Nylon, both of which perform well, with the nylon exhibiting increased slipperiness.\nTo ensure proper mounting: \nWrap coarse sandpaper around a body tube, exposing the abrasive side, and sand the guide's foot to remove residue and achieve a snug fit. Wipe the area clean with alcohol.\nGently sand the body tube where the guide will be installed and draw an outline of the guide along its edge.3. \nUse a map pin to punch 4-6 holes in the guide's mounting area, creating "glue rivets" that enhance holding power. Mount the guide using epoxy. To check alignment, place a ruler in the top slot. (PolyZap may also be effective)\nWe've tested the strength of these guides and found they can only be separated from the body by destroying it entirely.
