Kia unveiled its sleekly reimagined Sportage at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, followed by a market launch in 2017. The company claimed that the Sportage's bold contrast between sharp edges and smooth surfaces was directly inspired by modern high-performance fighter jets. In North America, the new Sportage is offered with three distinct trim levels: LX, EX, and SX. Like its predecessor, it comes equipped with two inline-four engine options - a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter and a turbocharged 2.0-liter. The 2.4-liter produces a robust 181 horsepower (135 kW) and 175 pound-feet of torque (237 N⋅m), while the turbocharged engine boasts an impressive 240 horsepower (180 kW) and 260 pound-feet of torque (350 N⋅m), with performance variations dependent on whether front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is selected. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
